Biotin +

Results

Biotin + contains probiotics, as a balanced gut microbiome aids in nutrient
absorption, immune function, and the prevention of gastrointestinal diseases.
Since hooves are made of keratin, a protein that requires specic nutrients for
growth and strength, a healthy gut is essential for optimal hoof health. A healthy
gut microbiome is linked to overall health.

Biotin + also contains 25 mg of Biotin per dose as Biotin, also known as vitamin
B7, is required in the horse’s diet for the production of keratin – the main protein
that forms a strong, durable hoof structure. Biotin is most commonly known for
supporting hoof growth and quality.

Biotin is a co-factor for enzymes involved in making fat from sugars and in getting
energy from fat. This vitamin helps the mitochondria of all cells of the body breakdown fat efficiently to produce energy. Given biotin’s role in energy metabolism, it is not surprising that it could support greater exercise tolerance in horses. Horses with lower blood biotin levels reached a critical level of lactate in the blood at lower running speeds, suggesting that horses with higher levels of biotin in the blood might be able to sustain faster speeds during exercise (Journal of Equine veterinary Science Vol 12 Issue3).

Biotin + also contains 100 mg of Zinc Chelate per dose. Zinc is a trace mineral that is essential in equine diets. Zinc is involved in a variety of processes in the body such as enzymatic activity and metabolism of proteins. Zinc helps to prevent the destruction of keratin and is involved in the health and integrity of the hoof.

L- Lysine is included at 100 mg per dose and L-Lysine is what is known as an essential amino acid and plays a crucial role in a horse’s overall health, especially in growth, tissue repair, and immune function. Horses cannot produce lysine on their own; therefore, it must be obtained through their diet. While forage and grain provide some lysine, it’s often insuffcient, especially for horses with higher needs.

Biotin + also contains L-Methionine which is another essential amino acid
(meaning the horse must get his supply from the diet because the body cannot
manufacture it.)

Methionine is a structural amino acid which means you can find it in all proteins in the body, from skeletal muscle to hemoglobin, antibodies and enzymes. Methionine is also required for the initiation of building proteins in the body. Methionine can be converted to the other two sulfur containing amino acids, cysteine and cystine. Sulfur bonds between cystine amino acids strengthen the structure of hooves, hair, tendons and ligaments.

Mineral nutrition plays a vital role in hoof health. Calcium is required to activate the enzyme needed to form keratin and is also required for creating crosslinks between keratin bres. Calcium is included at a rate of 3.46 g per dose. Biotin + was formulated to enhance gut health and to aid in the production and maintenance of strong healthy hooves in horses.
